Picking peppercorns for Reluctant Trading in Kerala, India

It’s impossible to appreciate everything we have. I know I often take things for granted. But deciding to start The Reluctant Trading Company this year has given me a newfound appreciation for so many things.

After taking a long break  from my last business, I was reluctant to do much of anything. Recently, my friend Divakar started telling me about his amazing Tellicherry peppercorns and to be honest, I was still reluctant. I thought pepper was pepper. Until that is, I actually tried the stuff.

Next thing I knew, I was on my way to India. I was driving past monkeys. I was traveling on winding roads deep into the jungles of southwest Kerala. I was watching a farmer climb a bamboo ladder to pick handfuls of the freshest green peppercorns on earth just for me. All the while, a rash of ravenous red ants were chomping away at my backside. During the past few months, I have never felt so alive.

Today, I want to give thanks to my amazing family for supporting me while I’ve been running around the planet.

I also want to thank all of you for your support, kind comments, likes, follows and emails. I’ve been hard at work on the website, packaging and operations. Won’t be long before you can order. Also thinking about new trips and adventures for next year. Thanks for joining me on this adventure. I do so appreciate it.
